What are the company’s unique selling points for job applicants?

By joining us you will be working in a company dedicated to improving the provision of one of life’s fundamentals - quality water and wastewater - to people in many parts of the world.  Our business takes treated water to parts of the globe where it is a “newcomer” to life, it enhances existing water supply and wastewater treatment facilities and it supports the appropriate operation and maintenance of the infrastructure.  All these activities do much to better the environment for people, flora and fauna.

We offer a wide range of opportunities at all levels, across all disciplines and in a variety of locations.

You will receive training not only in essential Health and Safety but in your sphere of activity and will have development opportunities to match your potential and determination.  Training starts with your own extensive induction training programme and never stops.

Where is Biwater currently operating?

We work throughout the world.

In the UK we have project sites across the country and offices in North Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Derby, Peterborough, Cheam and Belfast.

Internationally our presence is far and wide.  We currently have business and project activities in:

  • Asia and the Far East (China, Hong Kong, Macau, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Vietnam)
  • Europe/Middle East (Algeria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, France, Germany, Libya, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Turkey, Libya)
  • Africa (Ghana, Nigeria, Sudan, South Africa)
  • Americas (Chile, Dominican Republic, Panama, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, USA)

Why might I choose to work for Biwater rather than one of its competitors?

Biwater’s offering to UK and international clients of total capability (consultancy - design - engineering - project management - operations - maintenance - project funding) ensures we have a wide range of job opportunities at all levels, across all disciplines and in a variety of locations.

With our Group-wide philosophy of world class performance, we are committed to continuous improvement in everything we do in order to ensure the best possible outcome for clients, shareholders, partners and staff alike.  This extends to the development and training of all staff and our policy of promoting from within wherever and whenever appropriate.

By joining the Biwater team your work will help to ensure the provision of one of life’s fundamental needs - quality water and wastewater facilities - to people across the world.

What roles do you have?

We offer the full spectrum of service solutions from design and build to complex consultancy, hence we require all types of people.  Please see our current vacancy list for details.

What support will the company give me in further developing my career?

One of the main ways we identify and agree the training and development required to meet the needs of the business is through the One to One annual Review process.  It is important to us that our staff hold appropriate formal qualifications and are up to date in their knowledge of their field of activity and to ensure this we offer solid support and assistance.

Initially I wish to work in the UK but what opportunities exist for short or longer-term secondments to other Biwater offices/projects around the world?

We are keen to promote intra-Group movement amongst our staff, not only within the UK but between UK and international work and between one overseas location and another.  Assignments can range from a few days to a full long-term overseas contract.

If I travel overseas for the company do I get additional pay?

Yes you do.  Time spent overseas on short-stay company business attracts the payment of a nightly overseas allowance.

What is your benefits package?

The best thing we offer is a career.  We also provide development and training to match your potential and determination.  To support this we offer competitive salaries and benefits that include pension, life cover, private medical insurance, permanent health insurance and a bonus scheme.

Will I get a car?

Cars and company vehicles are provided on an as needed basis.  Many site roles and senior office roles offer a car or car allowance.

Is the company growing?

We have had growth year on year now for many years.  We have great clients who give us repeat business and referrals for new work.  We have a strong and growing order book in the UK and internationally which offers not just security but an ever-increasing list of opportunities and challengers for the company and all our people.

How does the company decide on internal promotions?

All vacancies are advertised on the company intranet/company website ensuring staff are aware of current opportunities and able to make application.

Company management takes a keen interest in the contribution of each of its staff and with the aid of a formal annual performance review process (One to One Review) and regular informal progress discussions, is able to identify staff ready and suited to take on increased responsibility.

What are my opportunities?

Our Chairman and a number of Group Managing Directors started their careers with the business, they have grown with it and through hard work and determination taken on the challenges and opportunities it has presented.  You could follow the same path.
