Biwater Construction Limited is undertaking a contract for the turnkey design, supply, installation and commissioning, training of clients staff and operation and maintenance (O&M) supervision of four biCOM wastewater treatment plants.
The Municipality of Green Mountain and the Public Works Authority contracted Biwater Construction to refurbish and expand the plants as part of the new National Infrastructure Developments Programme. This contract is one of the first contracts to be let in the wastewater sector under this programme and will be funded by the National Planning Committee of Libya.
The four biCOM plants will treat wastewater from small towns close to Beida in the Al Jabal Al Akhdar region. The towns are Shahat, Gernada, Massah and Northern Beida with populations of 30,000, 15,000, 15,000 and 15,000 respectively.
The contract is located in the Green Mountain Region of Libya which is an area of outstanding natural beauty and is of tourist and archaelogical importance.
Each of the biCOM plants have been designed to ensure that projected flow can be met for many years. The plants will additionally produce an excellent final quality.
