Wild Wadi was purpose built to the requirement of the client who wanted a distinctive Arabic theme linking a mythical traveller and adventurer with a state of the art Waterpark for the whole family.
The principal concept was for an abundance of water movement and the ability for the bathers to travel freely around the park without leaving the comfort of their inflatable rings. This was achieved by linking the main Lazy River to a series of Intermediate Pools set at various levels around the park through the use of uphill Master Blasters and downhill flume rides. Bathers are able to choose their direction of travel and type of ride, with each ride being grouped into varying levels of competence.
In addition to the network of GRP rides, bathers can enjoy the more tranquil pleasures of the Wave Pool or the extreme excitement of the Flowrider Surfing rides and the tallest, fastest free fall speed slide outside of North America.
Biwater Leisure were package managers for the co-ordination and supply of the rides. These comprised 9 Master Blaster uphill water rides and 6 conventional flume rides, all constructed in GRP and with a combined length of over 1700m.
Biwater Leisure provided the detailed design for the water Filtration & Features Systems comprising 18 plantrooms, housing 4 filtration plants and 94 feature pumps with a combined power requirement of 5000kW. The interconnecting pipework to serve all the filtration and features is concealed within the landscaping of the park and measures over 6 km in total length.
The park is dependent on the efficient management and distribution of water to serve all of the features, whilst still being able to maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety to the general public. In order to provide this, a network of rivulets, weirs and waterfalls interlink the various areas of the park. This forms a cohesive and flexible hydraulic system that also provides a visually pleasing backdrop to the park and to the bathers as the water cascades amongst the many themed areas of rockwork landscapes.
Two surfing rides were also developed for the project in conjunction with Wave Loch. The rides allow body boards to be used in a safe environment whilst still providing the full thrill of barrel waves, together with a shore break for the more energetic.
