Biwater Leisure Wins Contract to Undertake Filtration Works for White Water Canoe Course
21 October 2009

Biwater Leisure has been awarded a contract to design, supply and install a water treatment system for the new white water canoe course currently under construction at Broxbourne, Hertfordshire.

Water will be drawn from a 24,000 m3 man-made lake to feed two canoe courses; an intermediate standard and the main Olympic course.  Biwater will install mechanical filtration, ultra-violet sterilisation and iron and manganese removal equipment to clean the lake water.  Low level algaecide dosing, phosphate removal and chlorine dosing will also be incorporated into the filtration system to eliminate algal and other biological growth.

The contract was won in competitive tender. Design work is already underway and the project is set for completion in early summer 2010.
