Despite the distractions of the Sri Lanka’s beaches, the team on the Negombo Water Supply and Optimisation project are making good progress on the construction of a 12.5 mgd water treatment plant, water reservoir and main pipework which will bring drinking water to the local population. Currently many local residents are only able to get water from wells but this project will see additional water supplies being provided to both the local population and the tourist industry which has been rapidly

Biwater Treatment's AMP5 success

Anglian Water Services, part of the Anglian Water Group, has extended the contract with the @one Alliance into AMP5 ~  (2010-15 investment period). The @one Alliance will be responsible for delivering more than 50% of Anglian Water’s AMP5 capital programme.

The companies that make-up the @one Alliance are:
o Anglian Water Engineering
o Balfour Beatty Utility Solutions Limited
o Barhale Construction PLC
o Biwater Treatment Limited
o Black & Veatch Limited
o Grontmij Limited
o Skanska Construction UK Limited and Aker Solutions E&C Limited

These companies will work together within an alliancing environment and will be responsible for delivering projects collectively in excess of £1 billion.

“The key challenge for the alliance will be responding to the efficiencies set by Anglian Water to ensure that schemes are effectively  delivered and that Anglian Water customers benefit from the investment as quickly as possible,” said Chris Newsome, Director of Asset Management at Anglian Water.
