Engaging with communities

Major projects bring major benefits over time, but disruption in the short-term. We consider it a key factor in any project to keep communities up to date on progress, using every available communications resource to address concerns, respond to issues raised, and maintain the endorsement and support of local people.

Generally this will involve the creation and implementation of a structured social engagement plan, with everything from public relations campaigns to face-to-face town hall meetings. Our local staff also enjoy organising local football matches, supporting local social and sporting events and hosting tours for local schoolchildren and university students. Such local outreach initiatives are typically integral elements to the Environmental and Social Management Plans that are a part of our major projects.

If required, we can also advise on encouraging cultural and behavioural changes, such as initiatives to promote water conservation and environmental stewardship of the environment.
