Surrey, UK – 17 January 2020: British water engineering company, Biwater, have appointed Frank Baker, CMG, OBE as the organisation’s Global Ambassador. Within this position, he will explore market opportunities around the world and serve as a senior advisor to the executive committee on global matters regarding government, politics, economics and security.

“I was attracted by the company's mission to provide worldwide sustainable treated water solutions that serve communities, help protect the environment and foster economic development,” said Baker. “Water sustainability is vital to our future. I am looking forward to work with Biwater in its aim to achieving sustainability through its water and wastewater solutions.”

Baker comes to Biwater with vast experience and a diplomatic career that has spanned nearly four decades. During this time, he has undertaken international postings in the Americas, Africa, and the Middle East where he served as the British Ambassador to Kuwait, Iraq and recently to Libya.

Sir Adrian White, Biwater’s Chairman, commented, “We are delighted that Frank has joined Biwater and we are fortunate to have someone of his calibre and experience step into the position of Global Ambassador. In a time where we are facing many challenges from the impacts of global warming, a worldwide perspective is essential for developing sustainable water management solutions.”

Baker was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in recognition of his service as First Secretary of the British Embassy in Ankara, Turkey. He was appointed Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George (CMG) for services to British foreign policy and UK/Iraq relations. He is also a recipient of the Order of Kuwait (Special Class).
